At IH Spain, we're running a photography competition, with the prize a two-week Spanish course (plus free accommodation and airport transfer) at any one of the seven IH Spain Spanish schools.
All you have to do is take a photo of what you would bring to Spain with you in your suitcase if you won the prize and upload it to the IH Spain Facebook page. Don't forget the suntan oil 😉 !
We have Spanish schools in seven great cities to visit: apart from Barcelona, that's Cadiz, Palma, Madrid, San Sebastian, Seville and Valencia. Picking the nicest is going to be real tough!

Café de Colombia dolls | Photo: Tom Walton
My Mum reckons we should publish more "touristy" pictures of Barcelona here on our blog, so she's not going to be impressed by this one, is she?
The dolls were on the whiteboard in the staffroom in the Spanish Teacher Training Department here at IH Barcelona, and I imagine that one of the trainers brought them back from Colombia after teaching a course at IH Bogotá, where we also run Spanish courses.
You'll find some touristy pictures of Barcelona here but we reckon if you really want those you want to come to Barcelona yourself and get them…
Un, dos, tres, ¡saltad! | Photo: Maria Cabot
For our ¡Vívelo! competition, Maria persuaded her students to stand on the bench on our terrace — and then jump off it!
They look like they had fun doing it, don't they? The jury thought so too, and the photo was one of the finalists in the competition.
The competition was organized by the Viva Group, which runs Spanish courses in Spain and Latin America, including those at IH Barcelona.
Street in Alcúdia, Mallorca | Photo: Magdalena Urbanska
Magdalena has been over to Mallorca to visit IH Palma, our sister school on the island, where we also run Spanish courses. Alcúdia is in fact on the other side of the island from Palma, on the east coast, about 60km away, but if you do go you really must travel outside of Palma, and don't — whatever you do — just lie on the beach! If you're really energetic, you could hire a bike, though most people — like Magda — hire a car.
Alcúdia, Magda tells us, is an old town with Roman and Moorish influences. It's quiet, at least in comparison with Puerto Alcúdia, which is the resort with a fabulous beach, on the bay about 3km to the south, and a great spot to learn windsurfing and sailing.
Explore Mallorca — it's one of the many lovely corners of Spain!
