El Indio is a draper's shop in the Raval (Carme 24 [map]) which dates back to 1870, as the plaque on the pavement outside notes — a real draper's, that is, the kind of place your grandmother would have felt at home in.

The remarkable façade (detail in the photo, above) is later, 1922 according to rutadelmodernisme, and is the work of Vilaró i Valls, one of many Modernista decorators who left their mark on Barcelona, without ever having enjoyed the fame of, say, Gaudí.
