This week: Barça vs Español, plus some architecture, culture, history and jazz

Barça having messed up their runaway lead in La Liga, it's reached a climax almost as exciting at the Premier. Before Sunday, and Barcelona either goes wild or falls silent, we've got some real culture for you on our social programme this week:

  • Tuesday 3rd | Today's trip takes us into the barrio of Poble Nou, which is home to the iconic Torre Agbar (just visible, top left, in our photograph), the nightclub Razzmatazz and some of Barcelona's best street art. But come along with us and discover a whole lot more about one of the city's most interesting, most genuine barrios (16.00).
  • Wednesday 4th | Our walk this afternoon takes us to visit the lovely Parque de la Ciudadela. If you're interested in architecture, and the history of Barcelona, there are some fascinating things to see on today's trip (16.00).
  • Thursday 5th | Come with us for a stroll this afternoon to see something of the Ruta del Modernismo. We can't and won't (promise!) take you to see all the 116 Modernista buildings officially included in the Route, but you'll get at least a taste of Barcelona's magnificent architecture (16.00).
  • It's Jazz Night at our Friday Club this week. In the bar/on the terrace, 19.00-21.00.

Join us in Spanish Reception (C floor), unless otherwise stated, at the times given above.

Also this week | Spanish League, the local derby Barça vs Español (Sunday, kick-off 17.00) — an absolutely crucial game, Barça's last home league game of the season, with Atlético Madrid level on points and Real Madrid just one point behind (and Español a small matter of 45 points adrift).
