Rusting but lovely in the Plaza Lesseps

Window, Plaza Lesseps

Ironwork, rusting in the Plaza Lesseps | Photo: Tom Walton

Not all of Barcelona's Modernista buildings are in quite the same sort of shape as the Gaudí houses — as you can see from the rust on the ironwork in this picture, a window on the side of the Cases Ramos (possibly the only lovely building in what surely has to be Barcelona's ugliest square!). The floral motifs to be seen in the photograph are one of the characteristics of Modernisme.

The Cases Ramos (designed by Jaume Torres i Grau, built in 1906 [map]) was where we started our recent photowalking trip of Barcelona's Modernista houses.
