Not all of Barcelona's Modernista buildings are in quite the same sort of shape as the Gaudí houses — as you can see from the rust on the ironwork in this picture, a window on the side of the Cases (possibly the only lovely building in what surely has to be Barcelona's ugliest square!). The floral motifs to be seen in the photograph are one of the characteristics of Modernisme.
