In the garden, Pedralbes | Photo: Tom Walton
You have to look hard to find a garden in Barcelona. There are people (not many) with fantastic plants on their balconies and (even fewer) with gardens on their rooftop terraces, but an actual garden… now, that's unusual.
To find one, you'd have to get out of the centre, and go out into districts like El Putxet, or Sarrià, or Horta, or Vallcarca — or somewhere posh, like Pedralbes, where we found the tranquil garden in the photo.
To quote Van Morrison:
And we heard the bells within the church
We loved so much
And felt the presence of the youth of eternal summers
In the garden
There's always something suggestive of magic about a garden…
