Bicing bikes parked just round the corner from IH
Barcelona has a new bike hire service (really intended for residents, not tourists). For an annual €6 fee, you can pick up a bike at different points around the city [map] and use a bike free, provided you return it to a point within 30 minutes.

Barcelona this morning, from the back of a motorbike
The sun is just coming up… That's the Casa Batlló (left) and the Casa Amatller (right) next to it (by Gaudí and Puig i Cadafalch, respectively). They are two of the buildings on the Manzana de la Discòrdia, which we went to on the social program this week.
A bike or motorbike is a great way to see Barcelona. You can obtain discounts on bike hire with your IH Barcelona student card.
The tourist bus is an excellent alternative for getting to know the city.
Headline news this morning
Incredibly, 5-2 up after the first leg of their Spanish Cup semi-final, Barça (European Champions last season), got dumped out after crashing out 4-0, 6-5 on aggregate, to Madrid's least fashionable side, Getafe.
With five Spanish League games to play, and just two points ahead of Real Madrid, Barça will now have to win the League to win anything at all this season.

Lotta Ahlberg, winner of our 2007 Sant Jordi competition
For our 2007 Sant Jordi competition [blog] we asked students to tell us about their favourite Spanish phrase. The jury (the Spanish teachers at IH, that is!) particularly liked the story Lotta told us.
